About the Chef

Executive Chef Frankie Bernert born and raised in Nuremberg, Germany. He was inspired to become a chef by his parents, both extremely good cooks. “My father makes the best Goulash I’ve ever tasted, whereas my mother’s pork roast is pretty hard to top!” Frankie boasts.

Frankie graduated from culinary school in Nuremberg in 1985. In the following years he worked for several hotels, fine dining restaurants (Michelin Award recipients) and catering company’s in Germany. He trained with well-known German Chefs as Wolfgang Bartz from Restaurant Ente vom Lehel. In December 2000, he accepted the position as sous-chef at the Columbus Maennerchor under Master Chef Enzo Sclama and moved to the United States.

In 2003 Frankie accepted the position as sous-chef at the Worthington Inn working side by side with Chef Tom Smith until 2006. During this time they were ranked a Top Ten Restaurant by the Columbus Dispatch’s Jon Christensen.

Chef-Frankie

During the summer of 2006 he worked at 5 star restaurant and Top Ten Restaurant, La Tavola with Chef-Owner Rick Lopez. In 2007 through 2012 he was hired to become the Executive Chef at Royal American Links in Galena, Ohio. From February 2012 through January 2015, Frankie worked as the Executive Chef for Angela Petro’s Two Caterers. A huge “green” catering company in Columbus, Ohio. He was part of the team, who created the successful, Top Ten rated Food Truck “Sweet Carrot”.

In 2017, Frankie got hired by IGS, a green energy company, in Dublin, Ohio, to run the Cafeteria as the Chef Manager/Director of Food Service. In 2019 Frankie opened his own Restaurant PanOlio in Cape Coral, Florida. He ended up selling his Restaurant in February 2021 due to difficult challenges with Covid. He anticipates this newest adventure, Feed your Soul Food Truck, as a challenge to display his culinary expertise.

Frankie has a passion for fresh ingredients and is a from scratch Chef. He describes his menu as Global cuisine with lots of French, German, American and Mediterranean influences.
